How do I connect the printer to the school network?

I have both Vista Premium and XP Professional. I tried "Find a printer, but I am Error Active Directory Domain is currently unavailable. I tried to search through the page web but could not connect to any printer. Are there other ways I could try connecting the printer to the school?
